Angela Evelyn Bassett was born in the United States. She has been recognized by the media and for her television work since the 1980s. Her awards include two Golden Globe Awards, sixteen NAACP Image Awards as well as nominations for Academy Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett is from New York New York. She was born in Winston-Salem North Carolina. At the age of Bassett was five years old the family moved to St. Petersburg, Florida where they lived with their mother who had separated from their father. In high school, Bassett watched John Steinbeck's drama Of Mice and Men starring James Earl Jones and decided that she wanted to become an actor. In 1980, Bassett graduated from Yale University New Haven Connecticut with an undergraduate degree in African American studies. She also received a degree from The Yale School of Drama. Courtney B. Vance met her at Yale and, in 1997 they got married. Qualification: B.A. graduated from the Yale School of Drama School with a Master's Degree in African American studies, in the year 1980.
